Pasta with Sauerkraut

Macaroni & Sauerkraut

 

Products:

  1. 1 Jar of Sauerkraut 32 oz Claussen ( best juice and crisp ) – drained , without juice
  2. 1 pound of Polish Sausage
  3. 1 yellow onion
  4. 1 pack of mushrooms 8 oz
  5. 1 cup of water
  6. 1 pack of pasta Farfalle 16 oz
  7. 2 tbsp olive oil
  8. 1 tsp caraway seeds,1 tsp garlic powder,1 -2 tsp honey
  9. garnish ; dry or fresh parsley, marjoram, cilantro and my favorite loveage ( hard to find)
Chop onions, sausage and mushrooms to small pieces. Drain sauerkraut. Start frying onions on 2 tbs olive oil. After 2 minutes add sausage and after another 2 minutes mushrooms.  Cook them for 5 minutes and then add sauerkraut. Mix gently and keep cooking for another 5 minutes. After this time add caraway seeds and 1 cup of water. Keep cooking another 5 minutes. 
Meantime cook pasta. When cook al dente , drain them and add to sauerkraut, mix gently. Turn of the heat, cover and let them stand for 5 minutes to let pasta absorb liquid. 
Uncover season with salt & pepper,  honey, chili flakes and marjoram, parsley or loveage.
 

Another way to have sauerkraut dish. It is sour and full surprising good taste.
Very good for hangover. You can make it in less then 30 minutes.
